Number of Syrian refugees in Turkey reaches 44,038

The Turkish Prime Ministry's Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) has announced that there are currently 44,038 Syrian refugees in Turkey fleeing clashes in their country.
In a written statement released on Tuesday, AFAD said Syrian refugees staying in Turkey were mostly living in the southern provinces of Şanlıurfa, Gaziantep and Kilis. AFAD added that Syrian citizens taking shelter in Turkey had been provided with lodging, food, security and access to social activities, education and religious, translation and telecommunication services.


AFAD said that 525 Syrians entered Turkey between July 30 and July 31 and that 532 Syrians returned to Syria on their own will on both days, adding that so far a total of 73,587 Syrian refugees have entered Turkey and 29,549 of them have returned to Syria of their own volition.

Currently, 10,808 Syrian refugees are in Hatay, 7,502 in Gaziantep, 12,032 in Kilis and 13,337 in Şanlıurfa, AFAD said. A total of 359 Syrians are receiving treatment at various Turkish hospitals, AFAD added.

Syrian refugees in camps are provided with three meals a day, the statement added.
